Alexander Thomas Paterson (1861-1931)

A.T. Paterson, Founder of Alex Paterson & Co., Stockbrokers, of Montreal

He was born in Montreal. He was educated at Bishop's College School, Lennoxville, and in England at Brighton College. He became a stockbroker and having worked in Montreal for his maternal uncles, MacDougall Brothers, he established his own firm. He married Isobel, daughter of William Ellice Mackenzie and a grand-daughter of Andrew Allan of Iononteh. They were the parents of four children. They lived between a red brick house in Montreal that still stands at 3467 Simpson Street (designed by Edward Maxwell) and their summer house at St. Hillaire, Quebec.
