Robert Paterson (1750-1797)

in Plewlands Farm, south of Craigie, near Kilmarnock, Ayrshire

He was born in Glentaggart, Lanarkshire, the son of a sheep farmer. He was styled as 'in' rather than 'of' Plewlands Farm, indicating that he was a tenant farmer. Several of his sons became well-established as merchants in Quebec.
