John Vincent (1734-1779)

of Limerick & Erinagh, Co. Clare; Sheriff of the City of Limerick

He was the son of the Mayor of Limerick, nephew of the Chancellor of Limerick, and grandson of the Sheriff and Mayor of Limerick. In 1770, he acquired the lands of Trough and Knockdonagh, Co. Clare, from John Ormsby in London. In 1754, he married Catherine, daughter of John Love of Castle Saffron (Creagh Castle) and they were the parents of 6-children. After she died, he married Lucy, the widow of Captain Lindsay and daughter of Thomas Westropp of Ballysteen, Co. Limerick, and had a further 7-children. He is the ancestor the Vincents of Erinagh, Shanagolden, and Summerhill
