George Henry Warren (1823-1892)

Corporation Lawyer & Company Director, of 520 Fifth Avenue, New York City

He was born in Troy, New York, and graduated from Union College. He was described in his obituary as, "the originator and proprietor of many notable financial transactions... one of the best financial men in New York." He was a director of many of those companies, one of the most influential directors of the Union Trust Company, and played an active interest in the direction of the affairs of the Metropolitan Opera House. He was a member of numerous clubs and attended Trinity Chapel on 25th Street. He married Mary, daughter of U.S. Congressman Jonas Phillips Phoenix. They were the parents nine children and lived at 520 Fifth Avenue, N.Y.C.
