Lloyd Elliot Warren (1868-1922)
Founder of the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design in New York City
He was the Founder of the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design in New York City and Father of the Paris Prize which was renamed the the Lloyd Warren Fellowship Paris Prize in his honor. The prize allowed the winner to study in the first class at the Ecole-des-Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Due to his untimely death (sleepwalking out of a window in Paris), he did not live to see the hay-day of the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design in the 1930s. He was the younger brother of the architect, Whitney Warren, and their niece, Lady Queenborough, dedicated her book published in 1933, "The Occult Theocrasy," to Lloyd, citing him as the one, "who first guided me in this work".
