Charles Augustus Strong (1862-1940)
Professor of Psychology at the University of Chicago & Columbia University, N.Y.
He was married in 1889 to a fellow Baptist, Bessie, who also happened to be the eldest daughter of the world's first billionaire, John D. Rockefeller. They had one daughter together, Margaret, and after Bessie died in 1906 he moved with her to Italy where he wrote his most influential works. He died at their home there, Villa Le Balze in Fiesole (see images), which his daughter later bequeathed to Georgetown University as the home for the "Charles August Strong Center for Scholarship."
