William Forsyth-Grant (1843-1921)

Captain William Forsyth-Grant, of Hawaii & Toronto

He was born at Ecclesgreig Castle and served as a Captain in the 82nd Foot. In 1881, he married Minnie, daughter of The Hon. John Beverley Robinson, Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario. In the same year, he resigned his commission and moved to Hawaii where he managed or owned a sugar plantation. His wife wrote a book about her experiences there entitled, "Scenes in Hawaii Or, Life in the Sandwich Islands". By 1891, they retired to Toronto where his wife was President of the Woman's Historical Society and the Ladies' Relief Society. They died without children.
