Stuyvesant Fish (1851-1923)
of New York & Newport; President of the Illinois Central Railroad
He was the scion of several old New York families and became President of the Illinois Central Railroad. He had known his wife since childhood and remained devoted to her throughout his life. They were grandees of the Gilded Age. HIs collection of antiques included tapestries, paintings, Italian primitives, sculpture, and decorative arts of Louis XVI, Gothic, Venetian, and the Italian Renaissance.
