Percy Griffin (1864-1921)

Architect, of Griffin & Wynkoop, New York City

He was a graduate (1884) of the first American architectural school at MIT and trained in the offices of the prominent Boston architect H.H. Richardson. He started out on his own before going into partnership with John Wynkoop, Professor of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. He designed several public buildings, notably in New York and Virginia, including the monument to Jefferson Davis. His private commissions included the Walter Scranton summer estate Woodbridge Hall and Alnwick Hall. He was a member of the Union Club, Holland Lodge, and the American Institute of Architects. He married the celebrated artist's model Minnie Clark. It appears that she had children by a previous marriage but they had none between themselves.
