Mrs Mary Helen (Hering) Middleton

She was born on her father's sugar plantation in Jamaica while her mother was from Philadelphia. In 1794, she married her husband at her father's English estate, Heybridge Hall, Essex. She was described as "lively, charming, intelligent, sweet-tempered, and widely read. She played the harp and had a deep appreciation of music".
