Katherine (Davis) Pulitzer (1858-1927)

Mrs "Kate" (Davis) Pulitzer

She was born in Georgetown, Washington D.C. She shared a distant kinship (and personal relationship with) the Civil War's Confederate leader, Jefferson Davis. On June 19th, 1878, in Washington D.C., she married the newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer and they were the parents of seven children. She spent the last sixteen years of her life almost entirely in France, living between her houses at Deauville, Cap Martin, and the Château de la Garoupe which she leased at Antibes, near Nice.
