Joshua Green (1731-1806)

Merchant, of Court Street, Boston, Massachusetts

He was born at Boston and continued his father's business with the son of his father's business partner, Edward Walker. In 1761, they kept premises, "at the north corner of Queen Street, near the Town-house". He lived on Court Street and in 1762 married Hannah, sister of Ebenezer Storer, Collector of Internal Revenues, Treasurer of Harvard and Treasurer of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences who married Joshua's sister. Mrs Green was an intimate friend of Abigail Adams (wife of President Adams) and many of her letters were found among her papers when she died. Towards the end of their lives the Greens moved to Wendell to be near their only child.
