James Gore King (1791-1853)

Banker of New York City & U.S. Congressman from New Jersey

He was a financier in his father's firm of Prime, Ward & King. He then resided for many years in Liverpool (England) with the firm of King & Grain before retiring to "his beautiful country seat" at Weehawken, New Jersey, overlooking the Hudson. In 1842, his fortune was estimated at $200,000.
