George Stewart (b.1785)
of Steelend, Perthshire
He was born at Steelend, Perthshire. He went to America and was a merchant in Philadelphia at the time of his brother's death in 1814. He leased and later sold Steelend & Boghill (valued at £120 in the 1830s) to Major-General John Murray Belsches, but on retiring to Scotland sometime before 1850 he became the General's tenant when he moved back to Steelend, then described as: "a very neat dwelling house with suitable offices, garden, and arable farm". He had two sons and two daughters.
