Frank Lyon Polk (1871-1943)

Attorney & 1st U.S. Under Secretary of State, of 6 East 68th Street, New York City

He was the grandson of Leonidas Polk, "The Fighting Bishop," a famous general in the Confederate States Army, and his great-grandfather was a first cousin of U.S. President James Knox Polk. He was a senior partner in the New York law firm Davis, Polk & Wardwell. In 1930, he succeeded W. Butler Duncan as President of the Knickerbocker Club, New York City, and he was succeeded in 1937 by Lucius Wilmerding. He lived between 6 East 68th Street, New York City, and Syosset, Long Island.
