Florence (Levey) West (1855-1936)

Mrs Florence (Levey) West

She was born at Quebec and was married in 1877 at St. George's in Hanover Square, London, to Alfred Edward West. They lived at Kilcroney House two miles outside Bray in Ireland's County Wicklow. At the Royal Horticultural Show in London in 1929, the flowers she grew at Kilcroney won 17-prizes, including 9-first places, and for winning the most prizes in the show she was awarded the Royal Horticultural Medal. Her Irish Daffodils won the Barr Memorial Daffodil Cup and the driveway up to Kilcroney still bursts into life every spring with her prize-winning daffodils. She died at Mount Pleasant in the VallĂ©e de Vaux, Jersey. She and Alfred were the parents of four children.
