Alfred Edward West (1851-1919)

Alfred E. West, of Kilcroney House, High Sheriff of County Wicklow

He was born at Delgany, Co. Wicklow, and served as a Lieutenant in the Wicklow Rifles. He was the uncle of Lt.-Colonel Richard Annesley West whose heroic death at Courcelles won him the Victoria Cross. In 1877, at St. George's, Hanover Square, London, Alfred married Florence, daughter of Charles E. Levey of Cataraqui, Quebec. They lived at Kilcroney House near Bray in Co. Wicklow during which time he served as High Sheriff of County Wicklow. They had four children.
