Elizabeth (Savage) Bowman (b.c.1810)
Mrs Elizabeth (Savage) Bowman
She was married in 1830, the daughter of George Savage (d.1835), Collector of Customs at York (Toronto), Upper Canada, by his wife, Mary. The Toronto historian Henry Scadding stated that her father had been, "a watchmaker, coming originally from Manchester and then working sixteen years in London". He is therefore almost certainly the same George Savage who was - although thought to have been born several years before - christened in Huddersfield near Manchester in 1795, son of George Savage and the elder brother of Joseph and Alfred Savage of Montreal.
