Edwin Thorne (1861-1935)

of New York; Vice-President of the Central Hanover Bank

He was born in Millbrook, Dutchess Co., New York, and graduated from the Sheffield Engineering School at Yale (1882). He worked with the Mutual Life Insurance Company and the Central Hanover Bank where he became Vice-President, and he was also Vice President for The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Prior tot he official age of retirement, he had a breakdown but still retained an office and management of various trusts connected to his family. He was a passionate sportsman and purchased a large hunting preserve near Yemassee, South Carolina. He married Phebe Ketchum, granddaughter of Morris Ketchum, and they were the parents of four children. He died leaving $3.7 million to his family.
