Dr. Allan McLane Hamilton (1848-1919)

F.R.S.E., Professor of Psychiatry & Founder of the New York Psychiatrical Society

He was the grandson of two of America's most distinguished politicians: U.S. Senators Alexander Hamilton of New York and Louis McLane of Delaware. As a boy, Christmas Dinners were eaten with the family of David Cadwallader Colden at the old 18th century Colden family home (built in 1767 by Cadwalader Colden) while Thanksgiving Dinner was spent with the family of Charlotte and John Jacob Astor III, and their only son, his friend and contemporary who would become the 1st Viscount Astor.
