Augustus Van Cortlandt Schermerhorn (1812-1846)

Commission Merchant, of 75 Amity Street, New York City

He was born in New York City, and named for his mother's grandfather, Augustus Van Cortlandt, of the Van Cortlandt House in the Bronx. He lived with his parents at No. 21 East 22nd Street until his marriage in 1844 to Ellen Bayard, daughter of James Asheton Bayard, when they took up residence at 75 Amity Street. He was a Commission Merchant and a partner in the firm of Schermerhorn & March, of 3 Jones Lane. He and his wife died without children.
