William Meredith (1752-1791)
of Templerainy, Co. Wicklow; died without children
He was married in 1785, at Dublin, to Sarah Garrett. She was born at Janeville, Co. Carlow, but after being orphaned grew up with her elder brother, James (1740-1818), of Mount Pleasant, High Sheriff of Co. Carlow, of whom it was written (1812) in The Eudoxologist: "From Wicklow to Carlow, by fortune still drifted, To seek new adventures the scene I have shifted, To (James) Garrett of Janeville, I paid my addresses, To see and admire all the worth he possesses; Such worth as a century has scarcely known, And blazes and dazzles all eyes but his own; For ample support, with roast beef and good claret, Politely dispens'd – I'm indebted to Garrett". He died without children.
