William Hathorn Davidge (1854-1929)
of 524 Fifth Avenue, New York City
He was born in New York City and was educated in Alexandria, Virginia, and in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was became a Director of the insurance firm Johnson & Higgins, 49 Wall Street, and he belonged to the Union and Downtown Clubs, as well as India House. He lived at 524 Fifth Avenue before retiring to 290 Park Avenue. He kept a summer home "Physgill" at Weston, Westport, Connecticut. Ten years after the death of his first wife, in 1912 he was married at the Royal Chapel of the Savoy in London to Elizabeth Hadfield, who outlived him and died at their Connecticut home in 1950.
