William Carson Kane (1867-1931)

"Clubman" of 1016 Fifth Avenue, New York City

He was born at 88 Fourth Ave., New York - the home of his uncle, Maj. Henry W. Brevoort. His father died when he was three of wounds received in the Civil War. He was educated in Europe and lived for several years in England where he was well-known in hunting, racing and coaching circles. He was elected to Newmarket without the formality of a ballot and was a member of Kempton Park, Sandown, and Badminton too. Known as a "clubman" in New York, he lived at 50 East 64th Street before moving to 1016 Fifth Avenue. He was survived by his second wife and a daughter.
