Vera (Hale) Pratt (1889-1978)
Mrs Vera Derbishire Amherst (Hale) Pratt
She was a great-great-granddaughter of Lt.-General William Amherst, brother of Field Marshall Lord Jeffrey Amherst, Commander-in-Chief of the British Forces that captured Quebec in 1759. In 1926, at Sherbrooke, Quebec, she married (as his second wife) the American oil heir George Dupont Pratt of Killenworth on Long Island, New York. She died without children of her own, but was stepmother to Pratt's children.
