Thomas Handasyd Cabot (1864-1938)
Professional Cellist, of Boston, Massachusetts; died at Florence, Italy
He was born at Brookline, Massachusetts, and after graduating from Harvard he entered the railroad business with the Boston & Albany, and then with the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy in Iowa. Returning to Boston, from 1892 to 1894 he was Treasurer of the Boston Incandescent Lamp Co., but there afterwards retired from business and devoted himself to civic affairs and his first love - music. He became an accomplished violinist and cellist, and as well as performing gave private instruction. In 1898, he married Elise, daughter of the geologist and adventurer Raphael Pumpelly, and had 3-children (listed). They often travelled to Europe and he died at Florence, Italy.
