Thomas Benyon (1763-1833)
J.P., D.L., Linen Manufacturer, of New Grange Hall, Leeds
He was born at Ash Magna, Shropshire, where the Benyons had been "gentlemen" since the early 16th Century. He became a merchant and draper at Shrewsbury before moving his business to Leeds where he built a linen mill and became a successful manufacturer. He lived at Headingley Grange and New Grange Hall.
