Sydney Jones Colford (1852-1928)
Changed name from Sydney Colford Jones, of New York, Paris & Newport
He was born at Newport, Rhode Island, and spent most of his life mixing with high society in New York. He inherited a half of a one-half share in one-ninth of his cousin's Joshua Jones' $7-million estate that worked out to be about $90,000 in 1888. From about 1913, he settled permanently in Europe only retaining membership to one club in America: the New York Yacht Club. He died at his winter residence near Marseilles in the south of France.
