Sydenham Clark Parsons (1826-1876)

of the Parsons & Wells Pharmacy, Northampton, Massachusetts

His son-in-law, Arthur Curtiss James, gave $70,000 in his name towards the million dollar fund for Smith College. As a result, Smith College has the Sydenham Clark Parsons Professor of History and American Studies, and the Sydenham Clark Parsons Professor of Religion, Buddhism, and South Asian Studies.
