Susan Mabel Hood (1876-1965)
Mrs Susan (Hood) Emerson, Headmistress of Burnham School, Massachusetts
She was a direct descendant of General Israel Putnam and the owner of his birthplace at Danvers, Massachusetts. She founded two private boarding schools in New England (including one at the historic Seaview Terrace in Newport) and, was the principal of five others. She died at Northampton, Massachusetts.
