Rev. William Hawks of Hawksbury House (1799-1870)
Went up to Trinity Hall, Cambridge 1819. Civil Law Classes, 1st Class 1821-2. LL.B.1826. Ordained Priest 1824.
March 1825. It was the 75th Anniversary of the Infirmary at Newcastle upon Tyne. William gave the Anniversary Sermon to the assembled crowd.
William was Vicar of St.John's Church, Low Fell, Gateshead 1825-1840. He lived at the vicarage of Hawksbury House which his father, Sir Robert Shafto Hawks built for him. William was the first tenant. The house still stands (2010) being one of the highest vicarages in England at over 500 feet above sea level.
