Samuel Stevens Sands (1827-1892)

Founding President of S.S. Sands & Co., Brokers, New York

He lived between Fifth Avenue in New York City (No. 80, and later No. 385) and his country home "Elmhurst" in New Hamburg, N.Y. As the Founding President of S.S. Sands & Co., he was the broker to many important financial interests, including the Astors. In 1849, he married Eliza, daughter of Benjamin Aymar and they were the parents of eleven children.
