She was named for her assumed relation, Mrs Rosalie (DeWolf) Hopper (b.1826) who was a daughter of "Commodore" William Henry DeWolf of Linden Place, Bristol, Rhode Island. Her sister, Mrs Louise (Anthony) Vanderbilt lived between the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park and Rough Point, Newport. Her only daughter, "Daisy" Post inherited the Vanderilt Mansion and Wakehurst at Newport.
