Robert Linlithgow Livingston Jr. (b.1943)
U.S. Congressman from Louisiana & Treasurer of the Louisiana Republican Party
He is known as "Bob" Livingston and is a Knight of the Order of Malta. He is a Republican who served as a U.S. Representative from Louisiana from 1977 to 1999 and was Chairman of the Appropriations Committee from 1995 to 1999. In 1999, he was chosen as Newt Gingrich's successor as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, but was forced to decline the position following revelations of an extramarital affair. During his final years in Congress, he was a strong supporter of Bill Clinton's '98 impeachment. He was Treasurer of the Louisiana Republican Party from 2011 to 2014. He declared his support for Donald Trump in 2016 and is currently a prominent lobbyist based in Washington D.C. He is the founder of The Livingston Group and in 2018 he published his memoir, The Windmill Chaser: Triumphs and Less in American Politics.
