Robert John Fayrer (1788-1869)
Commander Robert J. Fayrer R.N., of Harmony Hall, Milnthorpe, Westmoreland
Having retired from the Royal Navy he became a pioneer of ocean steam navigation. He lived between Surrey Street off the Strand in London and Harmony Hall in Milnthorpe. His son was Surgeon-General of India.
