Robert Graves (1784-1859)
Wallpaper Manufacturer, of Dublin & Rockview House, Maryborough, Queen's Co.
He was born in Ireland and was most likely brought up in Maryborough, Queen's County (Co. Laois) where he later lived at Rockview House. He became a successful wallpaper manufacturer (house painter, painter stainer, and English floor-cloth manufacturer) with premises at 19 St. Stephen's Green in Dublin. His son, Robert, prospered further when he took his knowledge of the business to New York. He was either the father or brother of Otto Graves with whom he shared his business.
