Robert Clermont Livingston Timpson (1908-1988)
Robert C.L. Timpson, of New York City & Southampton, Long Island
He was born at Benton House in Hampshire, England. He grew up predominantly in New York at Maizefield in Dutchess County. In New York, he became a stockbroker with White, Weld & Co. and managing partner of W.E. Hutton before founding his own investment bank, Robert Timpson & Co. From 1954 and 1963, he lived at Grasmere with his first wife, Louise Clews, the former Duchess of Argyll. He lived between Manhattan and Southampton, Long Island. He was married twice (both ended in divorce) and had three children.
