Richard Willing (1775-1858)
Merchant, of Willing & Francis, Philadelphia
He entered the family firm of Willing & Francis, Merchants. In that capacity, he made four trips to India and one to China and was influential in wrapping up its affairs. He visited Europe during the Consulate and was a member of the First City Troop of Cavalry. Aside from his mercantile activities, he was also the President of the Mutual Assurance Company of Philadelphia.
