Rev. David Stuart Dodge (1836-1921)

D.D., Professor of Modern Languages in Syria & of Bellehurst, Simsbury, Connecticut

He graduated from Yale (M.A., 1857). He was Professor of Modern Languages at the  Protestant College he founded in Syria. He was the Founder & President of the Chester Crest Home for Intemperate Men, New York. For many years, he was President of the Board of Home Missions of the Presbyterian Church and President of the National Temperance Society and Publication House. He lived at Weatogue and Bellehurst, Connecticut. In 1860, at New York, he married Ellen, daughter of John Jay Phelps and they had five children.
