Ogden Hoffman (1794-1856)

Attorney-General & U.S. Congressman from New York

He was considered one of the legal lions of New York City and was described as: "a bald-headed, dreamy-eyed man, who learning was profound, and fervent eloquence historical; for upwards of a score of years he was employed in all the most important criminal trials of the city. He was also one of the founders of the Union Club. He was also a (half) brother of Charles Fenno Hoffman... the brothers were both men of charming social qualities and chivalrous personal character."
