Mary (Carrick) Shannon (1779-1853)
Mrs Mary Lavinia (Carrick) Shannon
She was a native of Limerick in Ireland, the daughter of Gerald and Charity (Creagh) Carrick. She was the niece of Richard Creagh (d.1836) of Dangan Castle, Co. Clare - seat of the Creaghs since 1639. Her mother and uncle were first cousins through their mother, Lavinia (Pennefather) Creagh, of Edward Pennefather (Lord Chief Justice of Ireland) and Richard Pennefather (Baron of the Court of Exchequer). In 1810, Mary (a Protestant) and her Catholic husband emigrated to Louisville, Kentucky.
