Mary (Cox) Chesnut (1775-1864)

Mrs Mary (Cox) Chesnut, of the Mulberry Plantation, South Carolina

She was said to have grown up with Nelly Custis and, "had a close association with the Washington family". She met her husband while he was studying at Princeton. He built the Mulberry Plantation House near Camden, South Carolina, almost certainly aided by her money.
