James Chesnut (1773-1866)
Col. James Chesnut, of the Mulberry Plantation, near Camden, South Carolina
He was brought up near Charleston, South Carolina, and was educated at Princeton University during which time he met Mary, daughter of Colonel John Cox, of Bloomsbury, New Jersey. He built the Mulberry Plantation House at Camden, South Carolina (see images).
