Maj. William Erving (1734-1791)

of Boston; Major in the British Army with Wolfe at Quebec

He was born at Boston and graduated from Harvard (1753). He joined the British Army and served as a Major with General Wolfe at the taking of Quebec. In gratitude of his military service he was granted land in New Hampshire but resigned his commission at the start of the Revolution. He died at Boston, unmarried.
