John Erving (1693-1786)

Merchant at Boston & Member of the Governor's Council

He was born at Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands. He emigrated to Boston where for twenty years he was a Member of the Governor's Council and, "one of the most eminent merchants in America". He married Abigail Phillips and had 6-children.
