Joshua Henshaw (1703-1777)
Merchant & Member of the Governor's Council of Massachusetts
He was born in Boston and quickly became a successful merchant. He served frequently as Town Magistrate and was on various town committees with figures such as John Hancock and Samuel Adams. He used his position to protest British rule and advance the colonist's rights. He lived in an elegant house on Sudbury Street and his portrait (pictured) was painted by John Singleton Copley.
