John Lemuel Hopkins McCrackan (1803-1853)

John L.H. McCrackan, Merchant, of 1 Bond Street, New York City; died at Sierra Leone

He was the first Secretary of the Union Club of the City of New York, the constitution of which was first adopted in 1836 at his home, 1 Bond Street. He was merchant, but became insolvent and died at Sierra Leone, Africa. He and his wife, Cornelia Livingston, had five children, three of whom died in infancy. One year after his death, his widow married Charles O'Conor, but they separated soon afterwards.
