John Harris Cruger (1737-1807)

Chamberlain of the City of New York & Member of the Governor's Council

He represented the family's mercantile firm in Jamaica. After his father's death in 1778 he succeeded him on the Governor's Council at New York and became Chamberlain of the City of New York. During the Revolution, he was appointed a Lieutenant-Colonel under Colonel DeLancey. After the war he settled in England at Beverley, Yorkshire, where he died without children.
