John Burstall (1736-1807)
Shipowner of Kingston-upon-Hull and Mayor of Hedon, Yorkshire
He was born at Hedon in Yorkshire where he lived in the summer months and served as Bailiff of the Corporation (1782), Alderman (1783) and Mayor (1784). For the rest of the year he resided at Kingston-upon-Hull where he carried on his business as a merchant and shipowner having previously been commissioned into the Royal Navy (1759), passing his exams as a Lieutenant and serving on HMS Neptune. He died and is buried at Hedon with his widow and son, John.
