James McGill II (b.1717)

Burgess of Glasgow; Deacon of the Hammerman's Guild

He lived at 27 Stockwell Street, Glasgow, where today there is a plaque to the memory of his son, James, who made a fortune in the fur trade at Montreal and left a bequest the would establish McGill University in Montreal.
